World Mission Society Church of God Volunteers at Brooklyn’s Cherry Blossom Festival

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]As the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s beautiful cherry blossom trees glistened in the sunlight, budding with new life, thousands of people came to enjoy the garden’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival. To ensure the visitors had a pleasant and comfortable experience, members from the World Mission Society Church of God were there to help with the admissions process.

About 100 members from the Church of God served as volunteers at Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Sukura Matsuri, which is Japanese for “Cherry Blossom Festival.” The members directed guests to the correct lines to purchase tickets and answered various questions about the event.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” interval=”3″ images=”10940,10935,10932,10939″ onclick=”link_image” custom_links_target=”_self” img_size=”300×120″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”10969″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]“It’s always good when people are here greeting people and giving them information,” said Zach Gold, a member of the admissions department at Brooklyn Botanic Garden. “It’s really important to make sure that the line operates smoothly. Without them [Church of God volunteers], it’s just me and three of my co-workers.”

Zach Gold mentioned that they were expecting over 40,000 people to be admitted to the Cherry Blossom Festival that day. Without the World Mission Society Church of God’s involvement, line control and guest admission would have been much more difficult for the everyday staff members to handle. The Church of God’s presence allowed the guests to have a positive and stress-free atmosphere as a result.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”10967″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full” img_link_large=”yes”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” onclick=”link_image” custom_links_target=”_self” interval=”5″ images=”10938,10937,10966,10970″ img_size=”300×120″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_column_text]“This is a really huge event and so many people are out here,” said Tina Renick, a Church of God member. “We wanted to volunteer because we have done a lot of community service and volunteer events in New Jersey, but this is one of the first events we were able to do in Brooklyn specifically, and be more a part of the New York City community.”

As the guests entered the park, Church of God volunteers were the first ones to greet them with smiles. The warm welcome from the Church of God set the tone for an enjoyable rest of the day. Even with the sun beaming down on them, the volunteers worked joyfully throughout the duration of the festival, handing out pamphlets and maps so that the guests could seamlessly find their way around the park.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”grey”][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_row_inner css=”.vc_custom_1430453875094{padding-top: 5% !important;}”][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_video link=”″ title=”News 12 Botanic Garden hosts Cherry Blossom Festival”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1430453973891{padding-top: 35% !important;}”]About 100 volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God volunteered at Sakura Matsuri to welcome visitors, distribute pamphlets, and answer questions about tickets.[/vc_column_text][ult_buttons btn_title=”Learn More” btn_link=”||” btn_align=”ubtn-left” btn_size=”ubtn-mini” btn_width=”80″ btn_height=”25″ btn_padding_left=”30″ btn_padding_top=”25″ btn_title_color=”#a3a3a3″ btn_hover=”ubtn-no-hover-bg” btn_anim_effect=”none” icon_size=”32″ btn_icon_pos=”ubtn-sep-icon-at-left” btn_border_size=”1″ btn_radius=”3″ btn_shadow_size=”5″ tooltip_pos=”left” btn_bg_color=”#ffffff” btn_border_style=”solid” btn_color_border=”#a3a3a3″ btn_color_border_hover=”#a3a3a3″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_separator color=”grey”][vc_column_text]“Thank you very much for all your help today,” Jeanine Poggioli, Manager of Visitor Services at Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, said to the volunteers. “We really appreciate it. Keep those smiles going.”

Staying true to Heavenly Mother’s teaching to be joyful always, keeping those smiles going is exactly what the members of the Church of God are going to do. With this being the latest installation to the World Mission Society Church of God’s Smile Campaign, to bring wellness and happiness to the community, the members hope this will be the first of many volunteer efforts in the Brooklyn area.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_separator color=”grey”][vc_column_text]Learn more about Heavenly Mother[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_gallery type=”nivo” interval=”3″ images=”10700,10704,10649″ onclick=”custom_link” custom_links_target=”_blank” img_size=”medium” custom_links=”,,,”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_gallery type=”nivo” interval=”5″ images=”10615,10646,10647,10645″ onclick=”custom_link” custom_links_target=”_blank” img_size=”medium” custom_links=”,,,”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
