For MLK National Day of Service, the World Mission Society Church of God in East Jersey participated in a Jersey Cares program to organize nearly 600 coats for community members in need. About 20 Church volunteers worked alongside local girl scouts and residents to transform the heap of coats into orderly bags fit for distribution.
For two hours, the group broke down into teams and sorted men’s, women’s and children’s coats. Accessories such as hats, scarves and gloves were also divided appropriately. A daunting task in the beginning became a joy to complete.
Justin Jacopec, a local volunteer, described how the day’s activities took place, “The Church of God members sprang into action and immediately made a plan how all the local volunteers and the Church of God could work in unity.”
Church of God members conduct such volunteer activities to bring the teachings of Heavenly Mother to the world. Mother teaches Her children to love, serve and be united. In Toms River, Mother’s teachings delivered beautiful results and will continue to warm the hearts of the volunteers who were determined to warm their neighbors through their efforts.
