Pompton Lakes Proclamation

On January 22, 2014, representatives from the World Mission Society Church of God in Ridgewood, NJ gathered in Pompton Lakes’ City Hall for a special occasion.

Pompton Lakes Mayor Kathleen Cole invited Pastor Daniel Lee of the Church of God along with 15 members of the Church to the monthly town meeting as the Mayor issued a proclamation for the volunteer efforts of the Church and its members during Hurricane Irene.

Although the menacing storm lies two years in the past, Mayor Cole and families of Pompton Lakes did not forget the Church of God’s immediate response to their needs.

Among the audience,  about 40 Pompton Lakes residents and a former resident, who received direct aid from the Church, were present. The former resident resident remembered the Church, their bright yellow shirts and uplifting energy so he greeted the members with a big hug.

The proclamation solidified the relationship between the Borough of Pompton Lakes and the World Mission Society Church of God. It was a demonstration of how the love of Heavenly Mother can uplift the world.

The proclamation reads as follows:

“Whereas, the World Mission Society Church of God generously offered assistance towards residents within our community during a flooding crisis; and

Whereas, the World Mission Society Church of God East Coast headquarters located in Ridgewood, NJ provides a place of worship of its members, serving communities through unselfish acts of kindness and deeds; and

Whereas, the World Mission Society Church of God whose beliefs that serving humanity is inspiration for the foundation and foresight for its ministry; and

Whereas, on August 28, 2011 a devastating storm known as Hurricane Irene impacted the Borough of Pompton Lakes leaving behind its horrific effects throughout the community; and

Whereas, members of the World Mission Society Church of God volunteered their services to those residents within the Borough of Pompton Lakes that were impacted by the storm; and

Whereas, the volunteers of the World Mission Society Church of God attired in yello shirts created good will through their leadership and dedication with many of its members completing the Community Emergency Response Team certification; and

Whereas, the World Mission Society Church of God continues to fulfill the vision and mission of its founders to serve and provide religious, cultural, educational and social services to its members and the community.

Now, therefore, be it resolved, that I, Kathleen M. Cole, Mayor of the Borough of Pompton Lakes, do hereby proclaim and recognize the World Mission Society Church of God and invite all residents of the Borough of Pompton Lakes to join in the celebration.”
