New Windsor Soccer Tournament 2015

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Two thousand years ago, following the Day of Pentecost, the disciples of the Early Church received the power of the Holy Spirit that allowed them to preach the gospel of Christ and lead 3,000 and 5,000 people to be baptized in a day.

As Christ’s last request for them was to make disciples of all nations, they did so and established churches of God in all of the neighboring regions.

Today, it is no different. Members of the Church of God on the East Coast are eager to spread the Church of God to hundreds of locations more in the United States and the Caribbean. Two weeks after celebrating the Day of Pentecost, on June 7, 2015, the members of the World Mission Society Church of God held the “2015 Rally for the Establishment of 300 Churches,” where members showed a display of unity, endurance, and brotherhood through a soccer tournament and dance show. The Rally set the conclusion of the 9th Elohim Academy for the East Coast, a week-long education for members who want to become Bible teachers and leaders in the Church of God.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_single_image border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” image=”11242″ img_size=”full” img_link_large=”yes”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]150 members joined the 9th Elohim Academy[/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” interval=”3″ images=”11252,11250″ onclick=”link_image” custom_links_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_column_text]Members from churches along the East Coast rallied together to the Church of God in New Windsor, NY, some driving from as far south as Virginia and Washington, D.C., and from as far north as New Hampshire for the soccer tournament.

About 30 churches were represented at the tournament and were grouped into teams by region: North (all New York and New Jersey churches), South (Virginia, DC, Maryland), East (Manhattan and all states east of New York) and West (Philadelphia). With each team wearing a different color T-shirt.

Members transformed an entire grass field into a soccer field in a matter of hours. Even from the night before, members set up a stage for the dance show, cooked for the attending churches, designed and printed score boards, and ensured every detail was covered. Members willingly put their hearts and minds into making this event a success so members could be filled with joy and encouragement. Even the weather was perfect throughout the day – sunny and with the perfect amount of breeze.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”11221″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” interval=”3″ images=”11220,11218,11235,11237″ onclick=”link_image” custom_links_target=”_self” img_size=”100″][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_column_text]As the games began, the sounds of roaring cheers and music filled the air and lasted throughout the event. The Eastern region of the churches of God won a trophy for having the most unique cheers and maintaining their energy and enthusiasm from start to finish. One of their most clever cheers spelled aloud “unity” and it sounded like a play on words as they shouted, ”You and I – T – Y.”

From the first game in the morning until the last one in the afternoon, there were horns and loud trumpet blasts as teams scored goal after goal. Churches within each region competed at first but then later joined together as their region advanced to the finals. The North and South regional churches won the first and second place titles, respectively. But all members were winners, nonetheless, for having fun and cheering for each other in unity.

Members’ laughter filled the air and everyone’s bright smiles exuded the joy and excitement to share the teachings of Christ with everyone. Following the teachings of Christ, members set the goal to establish 300 churches of God throughout the East Coast, and surely they will accomplish it with the same faith and unity they displayed throughout the soccer tournament.[/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=”11240,11239,11238,11236,11234,11233,11230,11229,11228,11227,11226,11225,11224,11223,11222,11232,11231″ onclick=”link_image” custom_links_target=”_self” mode=”horizontal” speed=”5000″ slides_per_view=”2″ autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes” img_size=”full” hide_pagination_control=”yes” partial_view=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
