Dear church members,
The Super Community Blood Drive at MetLife Stadium on October 1, 2013 owes a great deal of its success to your support and commitment to blood drives. On behalf of the New Jersey Department of Health, thank you for your generous participation and for traveling from throughout the northeastern United States.
The event would not have been successful without the support of volunteers like you, who were willing to take the time to donate to an effort so important to the health of the residents of the state of New Jersey. You helped the Department achieve its goal for the blood drive.
More than 300 donors turned out for this major blood drive, of which nearly 200 represented your church and its mission.
As the Commissioner of Health for the State of New Jersey, I know how important blood donation is to public health and the critical difference that blood donations make in peoples’ lives – not only to the recipients, but to their families, friends and colleagues. One in seven patients entering the hospital will need blood, and our hospitals need blood every day to treat patients with illnesses and injuries and those requiring surgery.
Every donor makes a difference. One donation, a single unit of blood, can save three lives. By joining together, we improve the quality of life for the communities we serve.
