DeKalb Senior Center gets spruced up

LITHONIA, GA (CBS ATLANTA) –

The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) helped the DeKalb Senior Center with a spring spruce up Sunday.

The WMSCOG brought more than 100 volunteers to help improve the look and feel of the senior center, which has been a vital part of the community for almost half of a century.

Planned improvements around the front of the building included sanding and painting the center’s sign, landscaping with flowers and bushes, painting benches, creating better curb appeal and general clean up.

The World Mission Society Church of God raised over $2,000 in donations to help the Senior center. Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, and several local businesses dominated mulch, equipment and yard goods.

Volunteers worked through the rain for Sunday’s clean up and will be back next week to finish the work.
