Members of the Church of God in New Hampshire Delight Residents
The state of New Hampshire may be known for cold weather and lots of snow. But the members of the Church of God in New Hampshire wanted to share the warming love of Heavenly Mother with their community. So they spent their Sunday afternoon on February 9th with residents at Aynsley Place at the Courville Communities.
A dozen members participated in an intimate event with about 30 seniors. For nearly two hours, the members put on a full performance for the residents to enjoy. The volunteers stirred memories of the seniors’ youth with songs like “Unchained Memories,” “Lean on Me,” and “Stand by Me.”
They danced around to the rhythms of “Hound Dog” by Elvis Presley and Chubby’s “Twist.” After the performances, the residents felt revived. Even the staff was amazed and shocked seeing how much the seniors engaged and enjoyed the event.
Valerie, one of the staff, was moved to tears as she mentioned how much the volunteers reminded her of her daughter who is serving in the military overseas. She found it unbelievable that youth, like the volunteers from the Church of God, take their time to bring happiness and love to others.
