Read more about the event – Church of God Mega Blood Drive
Della Crews (DC): I’m Della Crews. This Sunday, a Mega Blood Drive is being held in Mahwah, Bergen County. It’s being hosted by the World Mission Society Church of God. Saira Ahmed is their Director of Communications and she is sky ping with us this afternoon. Saira, it’s good to have you with us.
Saira Ahmed (SA): Thank you, Della.
DC: This is a very – and I mean very – big deal for your Church in that you’re brining together several organizations at once for the first time in history. Who are they and what prompted the Church to organize an event of this size?
SA: So basically, Della… First of all, I cannot help but give thanks first to our God, Christ Ahnsahnghong and our Heavenly Mother New Jerusalem. It it was not by Their power, it would have been impossible to do this event. We’ve seen things that were completely unexpected.
This is the first time in history that all seven blood centers are coming together. We’ve interacted with many blood centers in the past, but this is the first time here in New Jersey we have the opportunity to collaborate with all groups. And we’re bringing 1,200 members across the East Coast to one place in New Jersey.
What prompted it, in particular, was the fact that there’s a lot less education in New Jersey about blood shortages so we wanted to take the opportunity now to let people know how important it is to save life by giving blood.
And for us, it’s a dual purpose. Because just as physically one pint of blood can save three lives, spiritually, by the blood of Christ that we receive through the New Covenant Passover, we can share life. That’s the life we’ve been given and, because of that life, we’re so thankful to God. And that’s why we’re doing this kind of activity.
DC: Saira, let’s tell people where it’s being held and what time.
SA: The blood drive will be held at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute, this is where the police cadets train. It will begin at 8 a.m. and it will end at 4 p.m. So we’re going to have a series of speakers from the New Jersey Hospital Association, from the New Jersey Department of Health, from the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, and we’ll have performances and food for everyone to enjoy. It should be an amazing family day and a fun activities day for everyone who can come.
DC: Definitely, and a good cause for all. Again, that’s Sunday, August 24th at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute. We’ll have all of that information on news12.com. Saira Ahmed, Director of Communications, thank you for joining us this afternoon.
SA: Thank you, Della.
DC: She is with the World Mission Society Church of God.
