This past December 25, 2011, the members of the World Mission Society Church of God from along the East Coast journeyed to Times Square in order to commemorate the birth of Christ Ahnsahnhong (the Second Coming Jesus), who was born on December 1, 1918 by the lunar calendar. The ensemble performed a special rendition of Handel’s “Messiah” among other melodies. An audience of over 1,000 gathered to witness this astounding performance. The crowd then joined them in song, showing themselves to be members of the Church of God, donning yellow scarves and marching to the tune of a hymn entitled, “Let’s Go to the World.”
The flash-mob style choral performance first surprised New Yorkers in the heart of Times Square on 42nd Street and Broadway. They performed “King David,” “Oh You Rejoice,” and “God Ahnsahnghong When I in Awesome Wonder.” Their final performance of “Let’s Go to the World” was joined in by a thousand Church of God members from North Carolina, Maryland, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and the New York Metropolitan Area.
Lastly, the choir performed a special New Song entitled “Let’s Go to the World,” and a thousand Church of God members watching surprised the rest of the audience as they simultaneously put on yellow scarfs and joined in the performance. Members came from North Carolina, Maryland, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and the New York Metropolitan Area for this historic event.
The thousand members headed to Fifth Avenue and grouped on the steps of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building of the New York Public Library for a second performance. Members filled every step of the library building as they marched with bright smiles singing praises to Christ Ahnsahnghong. In the front of the crowd, members held a long banner saying “Behold! Praise and Glory Be to Christ Ahnsahnghong for His Coming!” Here, they caught the attention of dozens of bystanders, motorists and even the media. Onlookers were so curious about the excitement that the members displayed as they sang praises to Christ Ahnsahnghong that they took pictures and videos as they enjoyed the performance and asked about the reason behind their dynamic performance.
And just when New Yorkers thought it was over, the large crowd marched into Grand Central Station and performed for a third time flashmob-style once again, on the steps of the West of this New York landmark. They performed in front of dozens of train passengers heading in and out of Grand Central Station.
For the first time in recorded history, the birth date of Christ Ahnsahnghong coincided with the solar calendar date of December 25th. Ninety-four years ago, Christ Ahnsahnghong was born into this world. He began His ministry in 1948, after being baptized at the age of 30, and reestablished all the teachings of the early Church of God, which today is known as the World Mission Society Church of God. After a special commemorative service held at the Meadowlands Sheraton in Secaucus, New Jersey, the members of the Church of God headed to Manhattan, the capital of the world, to sing praises to God Elohim.
