About 1,300 blood donors attended a Mega Blood Drive on Sunday at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute, sponsored by the World Mission Society Church of God, the Record reported.
Blood supplies are 15 percent lower than last year in New Jersey, Jerry Antoine, director of donor recruitment at the Blood Center of New Jersey in East Orange, said.
The World Mission Society is one of the fastest growing churches in the world, with more than 2,200 branches in 175 countries and more than 2.2 million members worldwide. For each pint of blood collected, the seven blood centers the church gathered for the drive will donate $5 to anti-bullying programs at the Bergen County Technical Schools.
